Language Recovery in Discrete-Event Systems against Sensor Deception Attacks

چکیده
Cyber-physical systems are characterized by the intrinsic combination of software and physical components that usually include (wired wireless) communication devices, sensors, actuators, control processing units. Some wireless devices communicate over insecure channels, rendering cyber-physical at risk malicious attacks might lead to catastrophic damage. This paper touches upon problem sensor deception in supervisory discrete-event systems, where an attacker can insert, delete, or replace readings mislead supervisor induce system We model potential using nondeterministic finite-state transducers then introduce a new defence strategy utilizes insertion functions. Insertion functions type monitoring interface alters system’s behaviour adding extra observable events. Finally, we construct transducer called filter recovers original language generated plant handling altered language. The function cooperate confuse intruder without confusing supervisor.

Stealthy Deception Attacks Against SCADA Systems
SCADA protocols for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) are vulnerable to network attacks such as session hijacking. Hence, research focuses on network anomaly detection based on meta–data (message sizes, timing, command sequence), or on the state values of the physical process. In this work we present a class of semantic network-based attacks against SCADA systems that are undetectable by the abo...
متن کاملRecent Developments in Discrete Event Systems
This article is a brief exposure of the process approach to a newly emerging area called "discrete event systems" in control theory and summarizes some of the recent developments in this area. Discrete event systems is an area of research that is developing within the interstices of computer, control and communication sciences. The basic direction of research addresses issues in the analysis an...
متن کاملDecentralized prognosis of fuzzy discrete-event systems
This paper gives a decentralized approach to the problem of failure prognosis in the framework of fuzzy discrete event systems (FDES). A notion of co-predictability is formalized for decentralized prognosis of FDESs, where several local agents with fuzzy observability rather than crisp observability are used in the prognosis task. An FDES is said to be co-predictable if each faulty event can be...
متن کاملPartial Observation in Distributed Supervisory Control of Discrete-Event Systems
Distributed supervisory control is a method to synthesize local controllers in discrete-eventsystems with a systematic observation of the plant. Some works were reported on extending this methodby which local controllers are constructed so that observation properties are preserved from monolithic todistributed supervisory control, in an up-down approach. In this paper, we find circumstances in ...
متن کاملSupervisory Control of Discrete-event Systems under Attacks
We consider a supervisory control problem for discrete-event systems, in which an attacker corrupts the symbols that are observed by the supervisor. We show that existence of a supervisor enforcing a specification language, in the presence of attacks, is completely characterized by controllability (in the usual sense) and observability of the specification (in a new appropriately defined sense)...
